OH CONCUR 'OCD' DEFEAT!

OCD Disorder Quetion:
I've read books, done therapy, and consulted with many for over 16 years without any substantial progress.  Among other problems, I need to deal with a mental compulsion to break apart words and phrases into symmetrical groups, the continual counting and sorting of everything I see, and the uncontrollable parade of ideas in my head competing for attention.  This interferes with concentration, impairs decision-making, and leads to frustration and depression.

I would welcome suggestions, possible solutions, reference materials, referrals, anything you might recommend.  Thank you for your help.

OCD Answer:

Dear Friend,
Hello I read your letter and I want you to know that you are not alone.  This is how I was able to get on top of the problem; first realize that this is a blessing.

Try to think of OCD  as a blessing rather than a defeating thing to have.  Try to change your mind set and say to yourself that God loves me no matter what's physically wrong.  Work at changing your attitude and learn to live with this part of you that makes you special.  (Yes of course we will pray that the Lord clears it up but maybe part of that is learning to praise God for what you do have.)

OCD could be a blessing in disguise.  The problem is in learning how to use this blessing in the right way.  So many times we as humans tend to look at things in our lives as being bad when maybe for us it's really a good thing, (we just don't recognize it as being good.)  Maybe you are much smarter than you normally would be if you didn't have it.

Maybe it's not the OCD that's the problem but leaning to grow in self confidence, accepting yourself and the mistakes that you make in life.  It's ok to be wrong from time to time.  The Lord knows that your human with all of the human weaknesses that we all have.  He understands that it's ok "not" to be perfect and that the world "won't" fall apart if you aren't where you think you should be.

Listen OCD sets you apart and makes you special! Your unique and truly a blessing of the Lord.  The frustration is in how to use it?  Half the battle is accepting, Accepting yourself and who you are,  that you have it and then looking for ways to use it to it's fullest potential.

For years I have had Dyslexia but only a few years ago was it finally discovered. (That means reversing everything) My mind had grown so strong in working around the problem that it was hidden even to me.  I am not a person to take things lying down but I look for ways to get around problems so that they are no longer problems but I begin to see the blessing of them.

This is what you must do!  See OCD ....think of it as NOT BAD= "OCD" but ...... "O-C-D:    OH CONCUR OCD DEFEAT"  Yes think of it as "Oh Concur Defeat!"  You can you know instead of fighting it with negatives, why not work with it asking the Lord to reveal ways that you can use this for His Glory and He will help you! TRY IT, change your attitude and you just might find out that you begin to like yourself for who you really are, a loving person!

Listen my God is not a God of defeat but VICTORY and you can have victory with OCD by looking at the "Positive" things.   Our God is a God of Positives not Negatives.  Here I want you to go read this page
