Galations 5:22-23 But the fruit of the
Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
INTRODUCTION Have you ever thought
about the Fruit of the Spirit Peace. You have read this before but
have you ever really thought about it as applying to your life? Do
you really understand what kind of peace this is? Let’s pray!
PRAYER FOR GODLY WISDOM AND GUIDANCE
AND A DEEPER LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING AS WE STUDY THE BIBLE. ALWAYS
PRAY IN JESUS’ NAME TO GIVE HIM THE HONOR AND GLORY!
I. WE GAIN CONTENTMENT THROUGH PEACE
IN THE SPIRIT
A. God’s Word
says Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect
peace, whose mind
is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
1. Perfect peace, inward peace, fullness of peace with God.
2. Peace of conscience knowing ones sins are forgiven them when they
have
asked for it.
3. Peace at all times and in all circumstances.
B. Strength
Psalms
29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the
LORD will bless his people with peace. Strength
because Jesus overcame the
sin of the world and concurred it for us. We can have perfect peace in
Jesus,
and live forever in Heaven.
C. Overcoming
Holy Peace John 16:33 These things I have
spoken unto you, that
in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but
be of
good cheer; I have overcome the world.
1. Whatever the trials are, we will have inner peace because we are
trusting in
the Lord to help us through the things. Trustingness and the faith
of a child
in the Lord will help bring about real peace into our lives.
2. Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God
rule in your hearts, to the which
also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
a. Selfless love brings healing to hurting and damaged emotions.
b. Selfless love brings about healing and restoration to hurting
relatinships.
c. Selfless love brings about real revival and spiritual growth while
the
light of the Lord is shining through the person.
3. Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which
passeth all understanding, shall
keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
a. God’s peace is differnent than the worlds.
b. It comes from knowing Him and knowledge of His Word.
c. When we allow the Lord to be in control of our lives, our
victory going to
Heaven is assured.
II. WE GAIN SAFTY AND COMFORT
THROUGH PEACE IN THE SPIRIT
A. Hebrews
11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen. The
mark of God’s servant is their walk of faith! The deeper
the faith, the more spiritual, and a peaceful spirit that shines for all
to see.
B. Hebrews
11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet,
moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which
he
condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
ILLISTRATION: NOAH AND THE ARK., NOAH HAD
PEACE!
Faith is the
reality of things that cannot be seen by the human eye, yet are believed
in the spirit of the soul. Noah worked on that ark for a long, long time
and you know he was laughed at and mocked. People must have come,
sat on the grass eating their lunches just watching Noah.
It must have
seemed the funniest sight to watch someone building a ship in the middle
of dry land. Just think of the laughter and jeers. Yet….Noah
had peace. Why? He was following and doing the will of the Lord.
Peace in spite of seemingly bad cercumstances.
Has the Lord
ever asked you to do something that you felt you would get laughed at for?
Yet….you trusted and followed the Lord. Didn’t you feel a little
scared yet you found that you had peace in your spirit? If you haven’t,
get more into the things of the Lord until you truly hearing from the Lord
God. It will come as you mature in your spiritual walk.
III. WE GAIN TRANQUILITY THROUGH PEACE
IN THE SPIRIT
A. Colossians 3:15 And let the peace
of God rule in your hearts, to the which
also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
1. Following God in gospel obedience.
2. Despise earthly things and seek the face of the Lord.
3. Remembering this life will pass away and all eternity is coming.
B. By the death and resurection of Jesus we can have peace as well
as
forgiveness. We are justified by the blood of the Lamb of the Lord who
taketh away the sins of the world.
IV. WE GAIN SALVATION THROUGH
PEACE IN THE SPIRIT
A. John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto
you, He that heareth my word, and
believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come
into
condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
1. Have you ever thought that people could have spiritual deseases
as well
as physical? Believeing in the Lord will help cure it and bring peace to
your spirit.
2. We not only have to hear the Word but we have to believe the Word
to
have peace.
B. We have to allow the Lord to make us into what He desires us to
be. Let
Him be Lord of our lives.
1. We can trust His Word
2. We can trust Him to keep His promises
3. We can have true peace from fear because we are trusting
in Him
V. WE GAIN PERMANENT PEACE IN THE
SPIRIT
A. Ephesians 2:14 For he is our peace, who
hath made both one, and hath
broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
1. Regenerated and reformed sinners are delivered from the guilt of sin.
This brings about peace in one’s life.
2. The walls that separate us from God are down by the blood of the
Lamb.
Jesus the author, center, finisher of our faith in God. Our peace
is
complete when we put things of God first in our lives.
B.
We are one with the Lord and receive His peace.
1. When we summit ourselves fully before the Lord in repentance.
2. When we draw near into His presence through prayer and worship.
3. When we deeply study His Word and meditate day and
night on the
things of God.
CONCLUSION: Philippians 4:8 Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there
be any praise, think on these things
We can have hardships
and look on the outward things with negative thoughts or we can let the
world see how composed we suffered loss and hardships. This ability
comes from walking in full faith and allowing the peace of the Lord to
enter into our hearts and lives fully. Our positive attitudes come
from strong faith and the disaplyn of thinking and dwelling upon
the Lord. This allows us to have Fruit of the Spirit, Peace.
LET’S PRAY THANKING GOD FOR HIS LOVE,
GUIDANCE AND THE DESIRE TO GROW DEEPER IN OUR INNER BEING. REMEMBERING
THAT WE CAN DO NOTHING OF OURSELVE S BUT WHAT THE LORD HAS ALLOWD US TO
DO. THANKING HIM FOR ALLOWING US TO TAKE A FURTHER STEP IN FAITH.
AND ALWAYS IN JESUS’ NAME AMEN.
