   Welcome to part of our web site called "Diana Gray Ministries"  As time goes on I will be putting more storage information and advice here.  If anyone has any questions and would like more recipe ideas about the ingredients, please email me.  I would love to hear from you. This is a Food Storage List to help you.

     I’m a woman Pastor who is an Evangelist.   I also have a family to take care of too.   I’m just like you, trying to do the best that I can for my loved ones, with what ever resources that the Lord has given to me.

     It is just plain smart to make sure that you "always" have food stored up all year around.  (Job layoffs or sicknesses etc…You never know when you will need a good supply of food, if nothing more than helping your neighbors in their times of need.)

     I have always stored up food and I always will as the Good Lord provides.  When I have a considerable supply, then I begin food rotation.  Taking from the front of say—a row of canned corn.  Buy a replacement can of corn, and put it at the back of the row.  Rotate, rotate, rotate!  Once you have purchased your stock of food items, then it’s just a simple matter of rotation.

     People should have at least 6 months to 1 year of food stored up.  At least you should "try" to do it.  Every payday just keep buying extra items and eventually they will add up. After that first time of buying extra food, then just rotate your stock. Then you will always have food stored up for that really bad "rainy day." You will be Praising the Lord that you did!

Getting Started

     Because everyone’s homes and storage methods may vary, I can’t guarantee how long that you can store each item. You might want to check some books out at the library that deal with food storage.  I can only recommend items that you might like to have for your home.  Remember this, you don’t have to get everything on the list, but it gives you a good idea as to what you might want to get.

Don't feel that you have to buy everything on this list, but it will sure help you figure out what you will be needing. Just have fun, and really get into the joy of Storing Food.

Now you will need to calculate what your family would use up in one month.  Times it out for how many months you think that you will need it.  Say 1 month X 6 months, etc.

Example: say that you would use 2 jars of honey for one month, then you should calculate 2 jars of  honey X 6 months = 12 jars of honey for 6 months.  You might not use that much honey, but you get the idea.

***Some families are bigger than other families and need more food for storage than a small family.

***Side note here, honey in jars keeps better in food storage than sugar in paper bags, (Dampness, bugs, mildew) and is better nutritionally for your family.  Just store all storage food in a cool, dark place.   Use a felt tip permanent marker to date and label everything. This will help you during the rotation process of food items.

Did I forget anything?

    Now these items are only suggestions, again you don't have to buy them all (I don't have all of these things myself, but I have tried to be a through as possible to help you.)  Just get what "you" need.  Buy a good "food storage book" and you are all set to go have some fun, dealing with food storage.  I wish that I could guarentee everyone success, but if we all follow the outlines on food storage tecniques, we should do fine.  Let's all give it a try.  It's fun, and a real blessing to your families.

     I certainly hope that this list gets you going in the right direction.  I pray that you have fun while you are preparing food for storage.  It’s a good feeling providing well for your family. Just take one day at a time and have fun as the Lord provides for your needs.

    In bibical times people ate foods that were for the most part, still in their natural state.  A diet full of fruits, grains, vegetables, herbs, seeds, nuts and beans will give us better nutrition.  Better nutrition and the Lord,  will help us make it through whatever trials, and troubles that come our way.
    If you listen to the Word of God and follow a better eating pattern, then your bodies will be better able to with stand the onslot of worldly problems.  Your minds and bodies will be more in tune with the will of God, as you follow His Word for your life.
