"REPRESSION OF FEELINGS"

     Repression Of Feelings:Repression means that a person  is holding back hurtful thoughts and feelings.  They are forcing them down deep within themselves, into their subconscious selves, this is call packing. The sad part is that those feelings are just below the surface, causing people undo deep pain.  Packed down pain is the worse kind of inner pain there is because it will surface at the worst times bringing their own set of problems with them.

    Genesis1:26-28 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.   So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 

     God created people with wonderful feelings and emotions.  Think about how grand you feel when you are laughing at the most amusing matter.  The delight that you feel makes you smile and laugh with such merriment and happiness.  God gave you that ability to feel.  Think of all the wonderful feelings that you posses.  What a blessing to feel them even when they are not desiring the feelings that you are having.  Your "feeling something" at least!

     Satan doesn't want you to feel good or happy.  He desires you to "repress those feelings," with the lies that its not natural to feel any strong feelings.  In other words, "repress the truth!" How many men have been told the "demonic lie," from childhood on that "Men don’t cry?" ---------That’s a terrible painful deception!  How many men have been hurt over this?  If feelings such as joy and laughter are all right why can't a man feel sad and cry too.  Why should a man be hindered from one set of emotions than another since God made everything good, including our emotions.

     John 11:35 reads, "JESUS WEPT"

     If our Lord Jesus Christ whom we worship (no one has ever been greater than his Holiness,) "cried" and used His emotions in a healthy way, why not any of us? Are we more important than God?  What "real man" should not be able to shed a tear when needed?  What "real man" should not be able to feel the real feelings that God gave to him?  It’s no shame, but a "blessing" to feel and express ones feelings through healthy emotions. 

     Satan wants those feelings and emotions repressed.  If a person is repressing feelings, his inner soul, (mind, will, and emotions,) begin to come under the repressed bondage of Satan.  Rather than feel anything showing emotions, he turns inward.  By not crying or showing any sadness, he buries his hurt feelings, displaying them at a later time as anger or rage.  This grieves the Holy Spirit because its not natural for a feeling, emotional human being to hide feelings when God created mankind to feel. 

     Eph. 4:30 reads, "And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

     Subdued, hidden grief is unnatural and unhealthy for the human soul and spirit.  It represses the spirit into a level of sadness that the Lord never intended for us to have.  Burying and hiding things deep down within your heart as a sign of strength in "reality" is a "real sign" of weakness.  It takes more strength to be the man or woman that God meant you to be.  Don’t hide your feelings, you only hurt yourself worse than letting yourself feel.

     Sometimes people in churches act like they are dead of emotions and feelings.  The persons who ever started the dead, unfeeling ideas that a lot of churches have, was certainly being used of Satan.  God never intended churches to be that way, but "happy and joyful." (You can have joy in your heart and still have respect for the church service.) After all, we have the free gift of salvation.  That should give us joy! Believers are going to Heaven! That should make us happy and exstactic! 

     Don’t let Satan’s lies and false pride keep you from experiencing the wonderful gift of emotion that the Lord created in you.  If Jesus could feel the emotions of being  sad, happy, or rejoicing, how much more we should follow His lead?

     People that are repressed seldom really smile.  Oh they can put on a false front by smiling, but it never really reaches their eyes.  If you talk to them, after awhile you discover the sadness that they are repressing.  They have already listened to Satan’s lies and applied them to their lives.  People need to express their feelings, its natural and God given.

     Feelings need to be expressed freely as emotions interact in a person throughout their life.  When these special God given emotions, are not unconditional expressed freely, they are being repressed. 

     Satan wants people to repress their feelings.  He wants them to loose their energy for life and become withdrawn within themselves.  Repression brings feelings like being despondent, downhearted, melancholy, pensive, and dispirited. If Satan can make a person repress their feelings, soon they loose interest even going to church or anything of God. 

     If you realize that you are repressing some of your feelings, then be aware that Satan is coming against you. You can fight it with the Word of God, prayer and seeking "Christian Counseling" to get in touch with those feelings.  There are any number of people within a church body who you could fellowship with.  Sharing one's feelings and emotions can help you to release pent up hurts and deep hidden sorrows. Don’t ignore any attack from Satan and his demons.  The Lord wants you to be a total person with a full range of God given feelings.
