"THE DEVIL'S DEMONIC DECEPTIONS
BIBLE STUDY"
"DEPRESSION AND SORROW"
Depression and Sorrow: Depression is a deeply crushed, weighted down and defeated spirit. The sadness that a depressed person feels is to the point of feeling battered and deeply bruised. Their heart aches all of the time and tears are close to the service. It doesn't take much to bring on the weeping of deep felt sorrow. Proverbs 17:22 reads, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones." Have you ever heard of someone crying until they could cry no more? Sometimes the tears come and come for months and seems to wither and dry up a person's heart. Pain can be that deep but no matter how deep the pain can be Jesus can bring inner healing. A person who is in a depression will have decreased interest or pleasure in most every area of their lives. They may have significant weight loss or gain. They either eat everything in sight or they stop eating all together. They get too much sleep or can't seem to sleep at all and insomnia sets in. They usually feel worthless and have difficulty concentrating on the littlest matters. Thinking becomes terribly hard to do as concentration becomes difficult. Some depressed people have recurrent thoughts of death and suicide. Satan's ideas about dying often come into their minds. If you are feeling these feelings and thinking these thoughts, please read this page before you read any further on this study: http://dianagrayministries.net/bible/bs_suicide.html There are different levels of depression depending on the sin level, but its all bad. Satan enjoys seeing people feel sad and depressed. Satan enjoys telling people that they are no good or not good enough at anything and everything. He likes them to feel fatigue, irritability, decreased sensual indulgence, and nervousness. Sometimes memory loss or retention of ones memory becomes a problem. Not everyone feels these feelings when they are depressed but they feel enough of it to know it hurts, and it hurts bad. Very bad! Sometimes the pain of depressed sadness hurts so bad, that the crying brings on Satan's sicknesses and diseases. A person can even end up in the Hospital from crying too much. Life no longer seems worth living because the pain is so bad. They don’t feel like talking to anyone and withdraw within themselves. Food looses flavor and everything in life has little meaning left. They didn’t trust the Lord and His Holy Word so they walk in a sinful depression. Until they can admit that they are in the sin of not trusting and having faith in God, they are in trouble. Can Jesus bring about healing in the heart of a person who is depressed? Yes, of course He can. There is hope and your comfort from the Lord. Mark 11:22-26 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. There was a Christian woman who worked at a Hospital, caring and giving encouragement to all of the patients that came in. She would counsel and pray with anyone and everyone that she could. She was a healthy woman in her early sixties. Now the woman had an elderly mother which she saw every day, and helped care for her. She was a happy woman who loved her wonderful mother very much. As time passed her mother died and this woman fell apart with grief. Instead of rejoicing at the arrival of her mother in Heaven, she fell into deep grief and depression. Instead of having faith in God’s Holy Word about Salvation, she cried too much opening up the doorway for Satan to enter in with disease. The woman came down with arthritis to the point that she had to be admitted to the Hospital and given introveinace tubes and strong medicines. Sadness and crying had weakened her physical resistance and spiritual walk with God to the point of deep depression. Instead of having faith in God’s Holy Word, she allowed Satan to bring her down into the mire of deep grief. Satan desires a person to be tormented to the point of complete defeat. He brings confusion, conflicts, and tricks your mind off of the Word of God. If he can get a person's mind off of Jesus and onto worldly sorrows, he has them. When Jesus is complete Lord of their lives and their focus is centered on Him, life is easier to handle. People have to keep their eyes and hearts on Jesus. Make Him more important than their problems. They have to put things in the proper perspective. When the spirit is weighted down with total ruin and awful depression, sickness comes. A doorway has been opened up for Satan to enter. He works at defeating what little spiritual defenses are left to fight. The only way to combat this "depression demon" is to first admit that you are in sin. The sin I am speaking of is the "Sin of not trusting God enough" to be in control of the situation when you have just prayed to Him for His help. Next you need to ask for forgiveness of that sin and then again pray to give to problem to the Lord. Now DON’T pull that problem back! Leave it in the Lord’s hands, He’s your Daddy, He will take care of the problem in the right way and be Lord of the circumstances. You have to "trust" Him and if you don’t trust Him to do the right thing then you are in "sin." The bible says over and over again to trust the Lord. Will you continue to disobey God? It doesn’t matter what your eyes see or what you are feeling about the situation, it is walking in solid unwavering "faith" in the Lord that He will help you. By walking in faith, you will eventually see God’s hand was helping you even though at the time you could not see it. Faith and trusting in the Lord Jesus is the answer! The only real, lasting answer! I Peter 5:6-11 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Serious grief opens up a doorway to possible depression and Satan’s attack. Happiness brings inner health! How does a person get their life to turn around so that they can be happy? Well start by reading the bible, and then having the faith to know that God’s Word is true. Stand on that Word. in full faith! Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. Get involved with a good spirit filled church, and get your mind on helping others. Read about Job in the bible and how he was able to turn his life around. He started praying for his friends and God blessed him. You see, the way to get out of a depression is first to talk to someone about your feelings. Second start getting involved in other people's lives in a constructive way. Helping others helps bring inner healing into your life. As you help bring healing into someone else's. If you desire the Lord to heal your inner hurts reach out to others with all of the love and compassion that you can. ***************************** BE SURE TO SEE "OPPRESSION AND PERSECUTION" For Special teachings on "God's Positives"
